Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

The new year is all about renewal and change.  What resolutions have you made this year?  Lose weight?  Be more assertive?  Connect better with loved ones?  Change your career?  Emerge from financial debt?  Whatever it is, you can be assured that it won't be easy to accomplish.  Anything that is worth the effort is never easy.

I have learned over the years that the reasons we pursue goals change with time.  For me, twenty years ago, I decided to join a gym because I needed to lose weight and my eating habits were not healthy.  I was able to lose a significant amount of weight during that first year.....and then the reasons to maintain my physical wellness continued to change.  Over the years I have come to realize that the journey to good health in all areas, is a part of good personal stewardship and an expression of gratitude to my Creator.  There are larger life lessons to be learnt when we embark on a journey of personal wellness in various aspects of our lives; values that are worth pursuing.

Using the language of physical wellness, I have condensed these values into seven guidelines for working life out and achieving your goals.  Over the next few weeks, I will unpack each of these and tie them to God's perfect plan for us all.  Here they are:

1. Do your workout, no more, no less!

2. The more difficult, the more gain!

3. Form more than weight!

4. Do the opposite!

5. Make a better bad decision!

6. Cheat meal, not cheat day AND enjoy it!

7. Make your rest count!
