In my late teens, I seriously considered turning away from my Christian upbringing and converting to another major religion. Satan’s recruitment effort and sales pitch were thorough and for a young man that age, such organization, discipline and dedication were attractive.
Satan has been effective at replicating various principles of Christianity in the major world religions. The one thing that he will never ever be able to infuse into them is the concept of “love”. It is only as a Christ follower that I serve a God who is love and who loves me. That love flows through me to affirm my value and ensures that I can love others.
Read what John 13: 34-35 (The Message) says…”Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.” Jesus was instructing his disciples about the uniqueness of our belief as believers and the fact that we stand out by the love we show each other; a reflection of God’s love for us.
We are conduits of that love. Is there someone in your life that needs to experience God’s love first hand? You have an opportunity to demonstrate it as Christ has demonstrated it to you.
Go for it!
